OUR SECOND HOME - FREER STREET
At the December meeting in 1929 it was announced that the Girls Club Room in Freer Street had been offered as a
gift to the Lodge. This generous offer was readily accepted by the Brethren of the Lodge. Major alterations
were carried out at a cost estimated at £2500. The new Temple was dedicated on the 11th December, 1930 and
Hatherton Lodge continued to meet there until the 9th.December, 1971.
OUR THIRD (though temporary) HOME - RUSSELL STREET
On the 27th May 1971 the Secretary reported receipt of Notice of a meeting of Hatherton Masonic Hall Company
relating to the sale of the Masonic hall in Freer Street. A Dispensation was obtained from Grand Lodge to
remove the Lodge, on a temporary basis, to Russell Street, Wednesbury and on the 9th December the Lodge met for
the last time at Freer Street.
OUR FOURTH AND PRESENT HOME
The Walsall Lodges were determined to build a new Temple of their own and eventually a plot of land was
acquired adjoining St. Mary’s Church in Aldridge. The necessary capital was raised and the Foundation Stone was
laid by the Provincial Grand Master on 29th August, 1973. The Masonic Hall was dedicated on Thursday, 12th
September, 1974 and on the 26th September Hatherton Lodge held its first meeting when Bro. H Brookes was
Installed as Master.
